The Homestead filing due date is March 1st

Have you filed for Homestead Exemption? 

You are eligible for Homestead Exemption if you lived in your home on January 1st of the tax year and it is your primary residence.  The Florida Constitution defines homestead as real property to the extent of no more than one half of an acre of contiguous land in a municipality, owned by a natural person, and the improvements on it. The major benefits of having you a homestead exemption are as follows:

• Reduction in the property taxes you pay for your home and property.
• Provides protection against creditors and stops the forced sale of your home.
• Provides protection for the owner’s surviving spouse
